August Horsch might have been forced out of his first automobile company, but his name lives on in Latin. Prior to founding Audi in 1909, Horsch created a startup automobile company using his family name. After a falling out with management, Horsch (whose name means 'hear' in English) was ejected from the company, forcing him to start over. His new venture took the name Audi, which means 'listen' in Latin. The company is well-known for innovation, in fact in 1921 it became the first German automaker to manufacture a left-hand drive car, which affords the driver a better view of oncoming vehicles.
In 1932 Audi merged with automakers DKW, Horsch, and Wanderer to form the Auto Union, whose members are represented by the four rings in the current logo. That year Audi released the first European car with a six cylinder engine and front wheel drive, which would later become a signature power train configuration.
Owned by Volkswagen AG since 1964, Audi entered the North American market in 1968 with the Audi 100, followed by the Audi 50 and 80. Wanting to update the automaker's image, in 1980 chassis engineer Jorg Bensinger proposed four-wheel drive for the company's rally-racing and performance cars, which lead to the legendary Audi Quattro. The all-wheel drive cars were a wild success, and by 1985 the company dropped the Auto Union brands and the company officially changed its name to simply Audi AG. Other innovations included five-cylinder inline engines, rust-resistant fully-galvanized car bodies, and aluminum space frames, which were designed to offset the added weight of four-wheel drive systems. Worldwide sales of Audi parts and vehicles has grown steadily since, and exceeded one million vehicles in 2008. Which means there's a huge demand for aftermarket and genuine Audi parts online. From A4 parts to TT parts to A6 parts, the Car Parts Discount warehouse specializes in discount Audi parts, via our online catalog.
Like any high performance sedan or finely-tuned sports car, Audi vehicles require routine maintenance to perform their best. But that doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune on new Audi parts at your local dealer. Consider using our discount Audi parts online, where you can choose genuine OEM Audi parts or quality aftermarket components. Some owners try used Audi parts, but that doesn't lower the cost of shipping or professional installation, which goes completely to waste if the used Audi parts are just as worn out as the failed components being replaced. Better to only do it once with new aftermarket or genuine Audi parts, which when ordered online from Car Parts Discount are often just as cheap as used Audi parts.
The Car Parts Discount warehouse carries a variety of genuine Audi parts online, as well as OEM Audi parts and aftermarket Audi parts. Our Audi parts superstore is located in California, and is ready to ship the discount Audi parts you need - fast!
