The Acura CL was introduced in 1997, and was the defacto replacement for the Legend coupe. Really, the Legend was replaced by the RL which had no coupe body style. The TL, another mid-size offering from Acura, was the sedan version of the CL. Unfortunately, the CL was only offered for seven years and gained only a modest amount of success as a luxury coupe; which was surprising since it offered so many premium options like leather, heated seats, BOSE sound system, and even a Type-S model capable of 260hp. Acura CL parts were all assembled to create the CL in Honda's Ohio plant. Its styling was modest however, and never captured the hearts of drivers who wanted a fast 2-door or drivers who wanted the luxury of a mid-size import. Fun fact: there was no Acura CL offered in the year 2000.
