BMW's Z3 was replaced by the Z4, now using a multilink rear suspension. Many of the BMW Z4 parts used in the multilink suspension were shared with the current 3-series sedan. Although BMW initially said that the Z4 would roadster only, a coupe was eventually offered. The current Z4 (E89) bypasses the coupe/roadster debate and is only sold as a hardtop convertible.
