The Allante was a sporty convertible offered by Cadillac from 1987 to 1993. Intended to offer a true rival to cars like the Jaguar XJS and Mercedes-Benz SL, the Cadillac Allante parts were a special blend of Italian and American. The engineering and drivetrain were done by GM and the styling and leather interior were designed by Pininfarina. The transatlantic manufacturing process put a lot of extra cost in the car but it was a good looking convertible with a hardtop. Pininfarina had built several custom body and show cars for Cadillac in the past so there was a great deal of heritage attached to this car. Unfortunately Cadillac discontinued the car after offering its excellent Northstar 4.6 double overhead cam V8 for just one year.
