The DeVille name comes from the French term for "of the town" and is a leftover name from coachbuilding days. The name has been used on many different cars over the years so there is quite a bit of difference in Cadillac DeVille parts. The DeVille switched front rear drive to front drive in 1985. For many years the DeVilles were Cadillac's best selling model. The car was offered as both Coupe de Ville and Sedan de Ville up until 1993 when it became only a sedan and went by DeVille. The name was changed again to DTS in 2004 when all Cadillac cars had their names replaced with a three letter code. Ultimately both the DTS and STS were replaced by the XTS model. The DTS and XTS continue to offer the closest experience to the classic Cadillac ride and size.
