History of Chrysler

Chrysler LogoOriginally a nameplate of the Maxwell Motor Company, Chrysler began its life in 1924 as an innovative and well-engineered 6-cylinder car. It included advanced Chrysler parts such as a carburetor air filter, oil filter, high-compression engine, and 4-wheel hydraulic brakes. It's creator, Walter Chrysler, soon took over the company forming the corporation, which became the third of America's "Big Three" (GM and Ford being the other two).

Numerous other "industry first" parts were also found on the early cars, such as rubber engine mounts and wheel with ridged rim so a flat would not come free of the wheel. Soon the company would position itself in competition with other premium luxury brands like Cadillac and Lincoln. It didn't stay at the top of its brand offerings however; giving that spot to the Imperial. Instead, the automaker targeted its still near-luxury vehicles to the mid-price market. This boosted its popularity, as did other new product offerings like the first All-Transistor car radio. is not associated with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in any manner.
