Despite being built in Germany, disassembled, shipped across the globe, and then reassembled in the US, the Sprinter 3500 from Freightliner is an extremely purposeful and capable commercial van. Anyone looking for a cargo or delivery van would be well satisfied by the Sprinter due to its versatility and ability to be customized. The 3500 models are desirable for those who need a longer wheelbase and higher roofline than is provided on the 2500 models. Also available are stronger and more powerful engines for increased hauling capability. One downside to the Sprinters sold in the US is that they are not factory equipped with all-wheel drive. However, many conversion and customization businesses are ready to add aftermarket four-wheel or all-wheel drive along with whatever other modifications are being done. Fun fact: knocked-down kits full of all the Freightliner Sprinter 3500 parts arrive pre-packaged at the North American assembly plant in South Carolina and are put together on-site in order to avoid a 25% import tax.
