Originally conceived as a competitor to the 4Runner and Explorer, the Hyundai Santa Fe entered the market in 2001 without much of a splash. Sure, it was inexpensive and roomy, but that was about it. However, just a couple of years and a mid-generation refresh later, the Santa Fe started to take off. A larger engine and gas tank were welcome additions, and so were smaller changes like replacing the hood prop with lift struts, adding a "chirp" to the keyless entry door lock, and relocating the antenna. Now, with a much more appealing, contemporary design, larger offering of standard features, higher quality Hyundai Santa Fe parts, and powerful fuel efficient engines, the Santa Fe represents a formidable foe to the other car models mentioned earlier.
