The Mazda Tribute was a modern, uni-body, compact SUV. It was Mazda's first SUV since the Navajo. Ford did much of the engineering to make sure that the Mazda Tribute parts were reliable. Tributes were built on a front or four wheel drive chassis with and all-independent suspension. The first generation was significantly differentiated with its own sheetmetal but the second generation used the same Escape body with slightly revised front end styling. It also added a new six speed automatic transmission. Keep your eyes peeled for the rare hybird model! The US market models were built in Missouri. The successful Tribute was replaced by the CX-5.
