The Mercedes 190E was their compact offering from 1984-93. It was built on their 201 chassis platform, and came with 2.0L, 2.3L, or 2.6L fuel-injected engines. Upon its introduction, only the smallest engine was available. It was bad on fuel and didn't put out much power. As a result, it did not sell well in the US. Shortly after, Mercedes redesigned the fuel-injection system and increased displacement. This added power, improved fuel economy, and lowered emissions. Thus, the 2.3 and 2.6 models sold through the roof. Mercedes-Benz 190E parts are also very plentiful and affordable, just like the vehicles they service.
