Getting rid of the Stanza meant that Nissan needed to offer a vehicle positioned between the Sentra and the Maxima. It would compete with the Accord or Camry, offer similar power trains and options, but cost less. The result of this magical formula was the Nissan Altima, and it was an incredible success. Since its debut, it has taken a huge bite out of the 5-passenger market - much to the chagrin of Toyota and Honda. Nissan Altima parts are sourced from all over the world, but assembly is done in Tennessee and Mississippi. Late model Altima's have grown in size, become more powerful, offered Hybrid engine technology, and even included coupe body styles (for a short time). All this makes the Nissan Altima a truly diverse vehicle, great value, and segment leader.
