Poor Porsche. Ever since they replaced the 356 with the more powerful and expensive 911, they struggled to find an entry level model to sell. The four cylinder 912, the Volkswagen-engined 914, and the Audi designed 924 all came and went with little success. The Porsche Boxster had the right name combining boxer and roadster and stayed true to Porsche's traditional design. The 981 Boxster was recently introduced and marks the third generation of successful Porsche Boxster parts.
