Not much more than a re-badged Legacy, the Subaru Outback came into being in 1994. It comes with the addition of off-color body-side molding (or cladding) and a slightly raised and stiffer suspension. These subtle differences give the car a more rugged, outdoor-ready look that penetrated a market that the Legacy was only slightly capturing the interest of. The Outback Sport models are based on the Impreza chassis, with the same minor design tweaks you'd see in its larger cousin. Either way, since most Subaru Outback parts are interchangeable with other vehicles in the family, they are readily available from most parts suppliers.
