The name Jetta relates to the jet stream and comes from a time when Volkswagen named most of their card after winds. The Jetta is essentially a three-box version of the hatchback Golf and many, but not all Volkswagen Jetta parts are the same. Interestingly, the Golf way outsells the Jetta in most parts of the world but here in the US the Jetta way outsets the Golf because of the popularity of sedan over hatchbacks. While the Jetta name has remained in the US, the car has been renamed Vento and Bora in efforts to boost sales.
